It would be easy for me to say that our spring sale was the most challenging so far because of all the rain we received leading up to it, but when I really think about it, that probably isn’t a true statement. Each sale brings a whole slew of challenges all of their own, but somehow we make it through and after each one I am so thankful that we were able to pull off another wonderful barn sale.
With that being said I would be in denial if I didn’t address the large amounts of rain that we received the two weeks before our sale. It rained up until the Thursday afternoon before and we were working with a sponge as our field and areas surrounding the barn the day before our sale. But one of the beautiful things about our sale is the community that has been born through this venture and friends, neighbors and family all pulled together and got the ground and barn ready for our sale by the Friday night before.
I usually stay at the barn until wee hours in the morning the Friday night before, but I just didn’t have it in me this sale so I packed up and was home by eleven. I went over early the next morning and was the first one to slide open the barn door and I enjoyed the sun coming up and the beautiful morning before the hustle and bustle of the day started. I made a mental note to do that each time, we will see how that goes.
By seven sweet shoppers were getting in line and there was a buzz in the air as everyone got ready to start our spring market. And then next thing I knew it was lunch time and the massive amounts of peoples were dwindling and I had a chance to go around and visit with our everyone a bit.
My favorite part of this sale is the same thing that is always my favorite part, the people. I had no idea a year ago when I was dreaming of having a sale out of our barn how much I would grow to love the people that are a part of our each sale; shoppers and vendors included. This sale we added music, more vendors and more food. Some of our vendors traveled many miles to be a part of our sale and some live right on the same highway as the barn, but they all have something in common, they love the barn and believe in what they are doing or creating. I am so grateful I have an opportunity where I can highlight them. And of course the shoppers are always so sweet and encouraging and I love seeing them get excited about what the find out of the barn.
The day could not have gone better. Everyone was so happy and I was thankful we were able to have another great sale. Each one is such a gift and I feel so blessed for people to enjoy and be a part of this little dream of mine
Thank to everyone who came out and was a part of our spring sale! We are already looking forward to our fall sale, Septmeber 30th!
