Every year in the heat of the summer I am always thankful I planted Zinnias.
My love for Zinnias goes back to our first year of marriage when we lived in Texas. I learned pretty quick that things burn up fast in the Texas heat and one year I planted some Zinnias and they bloomed all summer and were the most cheery little fellas along our walk way.
They quickly became my favorite after that summer and I knew I wanted to include them in our last sale. I gave the first 25 people through the barn at our spring sale a packet of zinnia seeds, the same ones I planted in our garden this year.
I love how they just bloom and bloom and one of my very things about them is how cute they look cut and in jars around the house.
Last week while I was watering I decided to snap a few pics of my favorite flowers in our yard an d I hope you enjoy a little mini tour 🙂
When we moved into our home nearly five years ago I was really hoping when spring rolled around that lots of surprise flowers would pop up, but much to my surprise the owner before us did not have many flowers planted. She had put a lot of these little grasses all over the front of our house. So, that spring I moved them all over to the side of the house and began planting flowers and shrubs for color. They work well here now and help hold mulch in too.
Most of my flowers are starts from my grandma, mom and friends. We didn’t have much money in the budget for flowers when we first moved in so I started getting starts from everyone and over time have added in my favorites. I planted these black eyed Susie’s a few years ago and they are my current second runner up for favorite!
All of the rocks Cameron and I have hauled in from the creek around our house. It was a lot of work, but I love that we did it together and they are from our place and our neighbors place as well.
If you follow us on facebook you have seen a few pictures of our stock tanks in front of our garage. They are one of my favorite things at our little place. Our garage was very boring when we moved in and the stock tanks added lots of character.
This year was the first year I planted button zinnias in the stock tanks. I always do sweet potato vines and they take over every year and I was hoping the little zinnias would add some color!
They just started blooming last week, but so far I love them!
Yesterday afternoon Ally and I picked several zinnias and flowers from around the yard and I put mine on our dining room table and Ally put little jars of them all around her room.
I just love them! They are the perfect touch of summer inside while it is so hot outside!
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few of my favorite flowers and a little peek into our yard! Happy Monday Friends!
