I am just an ordinary woman, mom, wife… you name it! Most likely if you read here it is because of the barn, but the barn is just a tiny piece of my life. Everyday I am busy serving my family and raising our kiddos! This past week I have been busy getting things in order for school starting up next week! We have had Dr. appointments, school supplies shopping and today Cameron’s grandma took the kids and I out for pizza to celebrate going back to school! It was sweet treat!
I have been organizing and trying to get things in such a way that our days run smoother. Yesterday I purged and cleaned and the kiddos hung up their pencil and apple banner and made a countdown on our chalkboard.
While I was organizing and cleaning I realized most of the things I use to organize I have picked up from the barn or in search of things to have available at the barn! I love to use items for storage that may typically not be used for that!
I started in our entry way. I want to add a row of hooks for backpacks and such, but I am haven’t found just the right hooks yet. This bushel basket I brought home out of my dad’s barn years ago and it houses all the random shoes. Sure you could use a regular basket, but bushel baskets can be pretty reasonable (I have seen them as low as three dollars). And I love that this one in particular has a story!
I have no doubts that my oldest will have homework this year. I decided to use this old wooden tool box to corral things that they may need when they spread out all those work sheets. I still need to pick up a pack of pencils, but I think our homework station will work well in here.
This is our dining room and if he needs to take a break and walk away the papers can stay and not have to be moved for dinner.
Another way I love to organize art supplies is old bread pans.
They are perfect for the table and add some character when storing all of those markers and crayons!
Next up was snacks! Lots of lunch packing and after school snacking is about the happen! I love using these old wire locker baskets to corral all their snacks in our pantry! I wish I could take credit for this idea but I cant. I stole it from my friend Tess.
Speaking of food. I moved all my big jars back out of our pantry. I like clean counters because we are always busy doing things in the kitchen whether it be washing vegetables from a garden or art projects. But with new season approaching I needed extra space in my pantry to keep snacks, lunch stuff and meal prep items so I moved them out to our counter.
One thing I always love to pick up when I am out pickin is these old measuring cups. I have all shapes and sizes and I LOVE putting them in our jars. I even have a cute one for our coffee 🙂
A moment of honesty here, I don’t typically like change or back to school. But this year I have decided to put my best foot forward. To make it exciting and fun and to prepare the ways I enjoy to like organzing and cleaning and being even more intentional with my kiddos and ya know what! It has blessed my heart so much! To everything there is a season and I am thankful and looking forward to this new one with my family and I hope you are too!
