Wow! I cant believe what a fast start the New year is off to already!
I love the idea of a new year and hope to share another post soon with y’all about my hopes for 2018. But in true Lyss fashion I cant move forward without going back and paying this past year a visit and highlighting some of my favorite parts of it.
Early Last spring I was able to take a trip south with my grandma, her sister Sharon and my two littles. We had a wonderful time in Louisiana and Texas.
Most of the spring was spent preparing for our first ever spring market. One day I went out to see my mom and dad because I was feeling the weight and stress from it all and ended up helping my dad move cows and snapped the picture above when my heart was in a good place again. Do y’all have a place you go when you are feeling overwhelmed with life? I hope my kids know they can always come back home just like I do with my parents. Believe it or not this photo and day is what inspired the “hello darlin” t-shirt. I wanted our apparel to reflect the brand from deep within the heart and because of my dad’s love for old country music the hello darlin shirt was born.
And then in May we he our first spring sale. It went wonderful and we were thrilled to meet so many of you and see a lot of your sweet faces again. It was the prettiest day and the perfect way to start our summer with the kids getting out of school a few weeks later.
While trips and traveling made up more of my year more than usual (and I loved that) it is the quiet days at home that I treasure the most when the year ends. Days at home with the kiddos or quiet days swimming, or nights picking blackberries like below. Just being together is my favorite part of each day.
Every other fourth of July we spend at Big Cedar Lodge with my parents, brothers, and their families. It has been unofficially named “Cousin Camp” and the kids’ highlight of the year. We celebrated my sweet mommas birthday while we were there!
In Early August we were able to take our first big family vacation in quite awhile. My husband planned a wonderful trip for our little family for a week in Colorado. We even tent camped two nights and had an amazing time together as a family.
In September Cameron and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary!
And at the end of September we held our fall market. It was so FUN! Still love thinking back to that fun day!!
In October someone from Christy Wright’s team contacted me about attending their Women’s Business Conference in Nashville. It worked out that i was able to attend the conference and it was amazing! I strongly recommend it for ladies with small businesses like myself! I came home encouraged not just in business but as a mother and wife as well!
Big thanks to my parents for traveling with me so i could bring McCoy! He had so much fun touring Nashville with them while I was at the conference! I was even able to get in on some of the fun at night!
For Thanksgiving this year we traveled to Texas and spent time with dear friends. For those of you who don’t know us well, we spent the first five year of marriage in Texas and met once in a lifetime friends who we try to visit every chance we can! Our oldest two children were born in San Antonio and it was so special taking them back to where they were born.
And then came Christmas time. I have to say this was our first low-stress Christmas in a long time. I think a lot of it had to do with our kids being older and seeing them truly understand the meaning. One evening we spread out all their gifts for classmates and teachers and they worked so hard making each thing special and did it with such excitement and joy. It blessed this momma’s heart so much!
I hope you enjoyed going back through our year as much as I did! IT was a good one! Here is to another good one!
